OABA Newsletter April 2009
Alpacas ~ Lifestyle of Choice, Fabric of Dreams!
Spring is here and a busy season is upon us all!
The OABA board and committee members have been hard at work for our membership over the winter and we would like to take this opportunity to update you on our progress and future endeavors for 2009.
This past March OABA hosted a seminar, by Brett Kaysen inColumbus, to provide a deeper understanding of EPD's, the importance of our youth programs and what the future of the alpaca industry has in store for us. What a great opportunity for our members to stayahead of the curve competitively in our industry with this knowledge.
Our 2009-2010 elections were conducted to fill the positionsof Secretary and Director at Large for the next two year term.
- Sheri Deily will continue to serve as Secretary. Her expertise isappreciated in this position and we are glad to have her serving arepeat term.
- Bill Goebel has been named as the new Director at Large. Bill operates Renaissance Farms and brings a wealth of knowledge to thisposition.
Special thanks go to JoAnn White for her service as our past Directorat Large. We are fortunate to have her assurance that she will continue to serve on committees and volunteer her time at our events moving forward!
Updates to our bylaws were addressed during this electionprocess as well. All three bylaw changes were overwhelmingly passed by our membership. These changes will strengthen our organization inthe following manner:
- The approval to utilize the new technology to communicate to our organization will allow us to operate more effectively and be better stewards of our finances.
- The two additional Director at Large positions will assist us in incorporating more of the great talent we have in our membership so wecan continue to grow and evolve.
Calling all Members... Anyone with energy, dedication and thedesire to move this organization to the next level please reply.
We now have the two additional Director At Large positions to fill. Please email or call any board member to discuss your interest.
